Crested Butte

Hi loves,

How was your weekend?

We had a pretty great weekend!

Friday Trav and I dropped the kiddos off at his parents and we had a dinner date. It was great. Just exactly what we needed. The food was amazing and it was fun galavanting around town with my man, minus two little kitties haha.

Saturday morning we woke up early and headed to Crested Butte for a chili and beer festival. It was right on the ski hill and Judy somehow talked the gondola people into letting Trav and I take a ride up the hill and down again. I’ve never been on one before so I was nervous, and we with learning how to ski this winter I am glad I got to ride one before I have skis on my feet. It was so incredibly beautiful.

Sunday we packed up and at breakfast at a cute little cafe in town. We wanted to do a hike but there weren’t a lot of trails that were open that worked for us. So we just decided to head home and stop at a huge park we saw on the drive in that Nix would love. So we grabbed some coffee and stopped at the big park and Nix had a blast.

My favorite part of the whole weekend was that Nix made friends everywhere we went. At the chili fest a little girl was running around with stickers and I could see Nix eyeing them up. I told him he should find a nice rock and give it to the girl and then I bet she would give him a sticker. He handed the girl a rock and it worked. He was so happy, the stickers had puppies on them. Then later that night at dinner there was a baby probably Libby’s age who was pretty fussy. Nix went right over and started playing with him, making faces, and playing peekaboo and that baby was laughing and smiling as long as Nix was there playing with him. Then Sunday at the park Nix did the rock thing again (with out any prompting from me) and made friends with two other little kids after the rock peace offering. These are small little wins but I am just so happy to watch him be excited and having success when meeting new kids. He’s on a winning streak now!

I love road trips because it lets Trav and I talk for long periods of time and the kids usually sleep a lot. Yesterday we listened to more of Allison Armstrong’s stuff on relationships. She is really good. She always makes me think differently about men and relate to them in a new way. It’s really refreshing. I recommend you check her out.

Today we are back home and it feels great. I say it all the time, but the best part about traveling is coming home. So today it’s laundry and playing with babies.

Hope you all have a great Monday!

Love always,

Haley Bergsgaard
